There is no definitive answer to this question. The cleaning frequency varies from pool to pool and can be impacted by surrounding vegetation, pool use and weather patterns. Generally speaking, for residential pools, we suggest a fortnightly or monthly clean. This will ensure your water quality and chemical composition, is maintained for comfortable swimming and presentation. Our team provides pool cleaning Cairns services on demand: we can schedule regular cleans and maintain the calendar for you, or we can be booked for one-off cleans. We can also provide pool cleaning services for when you are out of town and/or on holiday.
Spas need to be cleaned and sanitized regularly, and more frequently, than pools. This is to maintain water quality. In addition to cleaning, spas should be completely drained and refilled with fresh water, at least every three months. Filters should be checked and cleaned monthly.
It’s usually obvious when your pool needs to be cleaned. It’s either full of leaves and debris, or its water colour and/or clarity are not what they used to be. If your pool is in a garden environment with lots of surrounding vegetation, then you should be skimming for leaves and emptying filter baskets every two to three days. This not only maintains good visual presentation, but it also reduces the chances of algae or bacteria growing in your pool, due to the presence of rotting leaves. Another indicator that your pool needs to be cleaned (with a water test and balance), is if your eyes are irritated during swimming and/or the water colour has a green tinge or has become cloudy. If any of the above sound like your pool, then it’s time to clean it and our team of Cairns pool cleaners are ready to take care of that for you.
We can tailor our Cairns pool cleaning services to meet your needs. Our packages can include the following:

If you want to try and clean your dirty pool water yourself, then here are some quick tips on how to proceed. There are several ways depending on how bad the pool is, but here is one basic way. Firstly, remove any debris from the pool and clean the skimmer basket. Secondly, clean your filter or cartridge and then add Flocculent to the water and let it circulate. Flocculent is a pool chemical that clumps floating particles together, which form clusters and sink to the bottom of the pool. Once it has settled, brush the sides of the pool, and vacuum the pool thoroughly. You will then want to water test and balance, with appropriate chemicals.
